Application
Angle grinders are extremely useful for concrete work. These lightweight and portable tools can be used in many different applications, including removing fins after stripping formwork, surface smoothing, crack chasing, and decorative cutting. A recent trend has been to use these tools with vacuum systems to reduce dust. The reasons are simple: Dusty workplaces are an environmental hazard, requiring masks and protective equipment. Airborne dust also cuts down the number of people who can work side by side. Finally, dust is the sworn enemy of the power tool, cutting down its effectiveness and ultimate lifespan.
With grinding diameters of 4 inches, these tools can't replace walk-behind surface preparation machines for profiling large areas of concrete. But they work easily in tight areas where the larger units can't maneuver, such as in corners and close to walls. |
